About

Since the founding of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology in Henrietta, NY, in 1968 due to a law signed by President Lyndon Baines Johnson in 1965, NTID students, staff, faculty, and alumni have gone on to make history.

This exhibit seeks to tell the story of that history, and to show how important RIT/NTID is to the past, present, and future of American deaf and hard-of-hearing people.

We hope that the stories told in this exhibit will continue in an eventual physical museum to be established in Lyndon Baines Johnson Hall, NTID's main academic building. For more information, or to give to the museum, please visit the Giving page
